I’m so dismayed at all that is going on in your country. I cannot fathom how you must all feel.
Despite the enormity of it all, there is one thing I know for sure. Your ancestors came and despite hardship along the way, built this country brick by brick. Their blood runs through your veins. Even if it doesn’t feel like it these days, you are made of the same grit!
Stand together, it will get you through this thing! Lean on each other. Like you said Janie, all of you mustn’t let up, you must persevere and you DO have what it takes to win this fight. I send you all the warmest of thoughts and I pray the good Lord to help you come out victorious!
The real horror is that our government has failed us. Perhaps not me, as I live a comfortable retired lifestyle and never have to worry about affording my next meal, paying rent, buying the essentials of living. But we have left behind the middle class, the poor, those dependent on government programs which are being dismantled. Look at the statistics, the middle class has seen a steep drop in their ability to keep up with expenses. The poor are sometimes working multiple part time jobs just to survive. The national minimum wage is only $7.25 an hour! Why! Because Congress has been insensitive to the real needs of the vast majority of the American people. YES, the corruption is greater today. YES, this President is unfit to lead and should not be trusted. But, the bigger story is that for too long, the voice of the real average Americans has been stifled. The power of the wealthy is dictating the terms and it is insensitive, corrupt, and inhuman. We need new leadership. Leadership that truly represents working Americans. If we are to preserve our democracy, we not only need to remove the current regime, but we need to take the money out of politics, set new guidelines to prevent what is happening from happening again, and restore faith in our democracy by having our government work for all Americans. It has taken decades to get us into this mess. I pray that somehow our once great nation can be restored to its former glory.
WHY ISN’T THERE A NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF MOMS OPPOSING TRUMP AND MAGA?
I just googled to try to find any sort of counterpart to rightwing maga supporting Moms for Liberty. There doesn’t appear to be one. There is one with a name that plays into elitist stereotype the Republicans like to advertise that may be good but their name detracts from their purpose.
Please correct me if I am wrong!
Just like refusing to have shadow cabinet spokes people, there are so many missed opportunities to broadcast an effective message.
Thanks, Janie. Your clear-eyed post reminds me of two Rumi quotes: “We are all just walking each other home” and “You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.” I must and do believe that the desire for kindness and fairness comprising the foundation of the resistance for “We the people” will win so that we can continue working toward achieving a more perfect union.

We must continue to resist and push our Constitution and rule of law to the top — restore its position of respect. Leadership. This accomplishment is essential to restoring our freedoms and safety. Reaching this goal will put us back on the path to support and trust of our allies.
