Yes for Indiana!! It’s a sign that the regime is bleeding daylight (I borrowed that phrase from the head of the Canadian Resistance, Charlie Angus).
I do not understand all of the high level economic dealings, but we are told that PM Carney has been procuring new trading partners to lessen our dependence on the United States, and that our military is looking for 300,000 volunteers to train them on operation of drones and rifles.
It feels like something out of the twilight zone, to be honest, but these are all signs that there is a resistance, that people see what is happening, and are not just going to let the regime roll over them without a fight.
People we never heard of until now suddenly become leaders – – Robert Arnold, Janie on Substack.
An ordinary journalist becomes a leader for refusing to bend, Jim Acosta. Recording artists.
And when it’s all over, I sincerely hope there will be Nuremberg style trials, and they will all be held to account.
Hello Janie. I can't express my thoughts in english as well as I would in french (not enough vocabulary!), sorry, but I try:
what can I do as simple citizen like you, other way that fighting as efficient as possible against the rising of our far right and violence in France? Every day I go out of my building and I meet a neighbour who's for far right (often friendly person but blinded), who truly thinks that far right is the solution of all our problems, and who every day is influenced by the networks he or she is watching? So every day I'm trying to speak and argue with these people, with friends sometimes too, that maybe somebody tries to influence them, on these networks? I'm trying to tell them that fascism in Europe came on the same way, don't they remember the 20th century? Many of us are, I'm, absolutely scared about russian agression, about violence and manipulation on the networks, and about the threat to Europ, to France, to Belgium, to Germany, to Poland..., nuclear weapons are not far from our country. Both leaders USA and Russia seam to be friends, (not people of course, but leaders), Europ is not invited to peace negotiations, what can we do? The people, all the people of all these countries (Europ, US Russia, Ukrainia...), are suffering or will suffer of the consequences of all that situation. So every day, from my little place, I try do do as I can, not perfect I know; but I try to do as I can to improve living together, encouraging to not think that the migrants are responsible of our problems, hoping that hate won't win the fight.. Thank you for your work on this Substack.
Janie, this is an amazing post. I love how you woven threads about your everyday life into this tapestry of national decline at the hands of Trump and his minions. We need to stay strong, be well informed and stand ready to take back our country … making it a powerful democracy that works for all. And we need to restore the checks and balances, starting with making Congress functional again. Term limiting the Supreme Court justices would also help.
I would love your recipe for Italian Biscoti! The best Biscoti I ever had was in Italy last year!
As usual, I love your message! You are right on about Johnson. He is such an asshole. Can’t wait to see him gone. Feel free to wear your PJs anytime you want. It’s all about your message that all of us here really love. Thank you!
Ooh, I don’t have an Italian nana but I just made chocolate almond biscotti. When the news overwhelms, it’s awesome to dunk one (or two!) into a cup of hot cocoa and things seem just a bit better! Best done in your jammies.
Good morning Janie. Thank you for refreshing this information for us. We, or at least I, tend to push things to the back burner so I can get a deep breath. But you remind me that I can't do that. All the horrible things going on don't wait for us to be ready to handle them. Unlike Mike Johnson who only has one job, kissing Trump's behind, we have a lot of irons in the fire. It sounds like you are very busy. Of all the things you mentioned one in particular stood out. I hope your daughter's cat is found. Please take care and enjoy your baking.
Hi Janie, as always, I loved your post. You are down to earth and smart and scared as we all are.
I am listening to a terrific book , which would give you a terrific perspective on what’s happening. I started to read this a year ago and found it upsetting.
Now in today’s completely upsetting world that we’re somehow living in , am listening to the book.
It’s wonderful.

Thanks Janie! You're post is exactly what I needed after shoveling snow again this morning. Here in Vermont the daylight is ridiculously minimal this time of year. Winter Solstice is just a week away, though. Stay strong everyone. The light will return!
We just moved. I am deciding what box to open next, where do I put all of it, so I can find it. Calling garbage for weekly pickups. Calling internet to get Substack. Getting our address changes made, personal and business. Walking out dog multiple times a day, as no fence yet. Yes Janie women make the world a better place.
Dear Janie, I hear you, but to be honest, the rest of us are focused on our own survival in this chaotic world of Trumpism. It's a tidal wave that washes over us all and there would be consequences for unwelcome interference in US politics from foreign governments. Europe needs to save Ukraine because that war is cancer that will spread. As a Canadian and member of the British Commonwealth, I was shocked that the Brits felt they had to suck up to Trump with a second diamond-tiara event. WTF anyway?
I think it's up to Americans to keep the pressure on your Republican representatives. Indiana is an example of how it can succeed. Your politics is corrupt and the two party system isn't working. The damage will take years to correct. USA is screwed but quiet voices like yours are being heard.
One voice, one hundred, one million; keep doing this good work. You are brave. 🇨🇦❤️
Yes, wonder what would happen if U.S. women engaged in an all-encompassing strike one day. Two days might be a stretch! I think so many control-freaks have done little real work as they are used to bossing others. “Do this, bring me that, I want, I need… “ I really don’t think they outnumber the truly good ones, though. So, am very grateful for that.

Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight

Love your posts. I call Mike “I monitor my son’s johnson” Johnson, the House Squeaker.
Love this so much! I don’t know who runs Mike Johnson’s home, but I’m guessing there’s a woman on the job.

It’s way past time for the women who waffle their brains all day and all night long to lead our planet with compassion and sanity. 🌎🙏

Hi Janie. I am not seeing it. Could you email it to snathan@duck.com? Thank you!
Just sent!
