Calling ourselves protectors, instead of protesters, make such an enormous, psychological difference! We really need to adopt the change in language broadly! It moves our motives from our heads to our hearts!

Thanks. For this ,words are so important, you are 100% correct ,protecting is very much more POWERFUL ,and in line with how I feel .

I was in line for the sweetest checkout woman at a store I frequent. We exchanged the pleasantries and then she leaned over and quietly said “I think we are starting to see a shift” of course I knew what she meant and for a split second I had to accept that this woman I only know as the sweet one behind the checkout revealed that she was fighting too and that she cared. Not a person I would expect to see at a protection rally, but in that moment I wanted to hug her. It truly is the little things that add up! Thank you Janie for your wisdom and sharing!

That is such a lovely moment at the checkout. It gives me hope too. Thanks for that.

This is so thoughtful, wise, and real, like all of your posts. Thank you, Janie, for reminding us that we can and we will.

Thank you Janie for your post again! Sounds like the farm was fun but a bit stressful dealing with the animals. I like the idea of saying we’re protecting our rights. Please take care of yourself 💙🇺🇸💙

Janie, you are a true gem! I love your honesty, your naming of our fears! And I especially love “protecting “ instead of protesting! I can’t wait to go to the next Protect Rally! Keep up the good trouble!

Yes Janie thanks again for the support and reminder that I can’t continue to be a part of this battle if I am depleted. And my anxiety is decreased with your reminder that when one of steps back to rest and regain strength another takes over. We’re in this battle together in every way.

Janie, happy to hear from you this morning. I want to write on Substack but don’t know how to start. I have some followers and free subscribers. Don’t know how that happened because I have only made comments. So I see, sometimes at the end of articles, a place to click “start writing”. Is that how you started? Please point me in the right direction and I can carry through. You are great with videos. I am a word lady. Thank you for inspiring me. Glynda

I agree -- it's surprising that the mainstream media isn't covering these marches/protests/gatherings. They keep repeating the same (old) news stories, and overlooking new ones that are worthy of coverage. I don't get it. Maybe they are worried that the orange man will shut them down?

Thank you Janie!! 🩷I love that you call our protests, protects!! That is certainly what we are trying to do!

I’m so glad you had a restful day on a farm! We had a lovely Easter, at Church and a family dinner at our house. And a hopefully not last egg hunt for our granddaughter, as she is 10! It was lovely having a day to not think about such destruction. Thank goodness I didn’t read Cheato’s (Trump’s) Easter greeting (???) til today. What an evil man!! 🙄😡

I’ve spent every weekend protesting and talking about plans for protesting . Thinking my family would be proud of their Nana working hard to save democracy - not one mention about my activism . Yes just let this 74 yr old matriarch worry about your in uteri babies futures !

You know better than they do how important it is. Chalk it up to their youth and inexperience. :)

I’m 74 and have 2 great grands and two more baby girls due this year . They think I’m hateful and don’t understand my protesting - it’s for their future !

P.S. I meant to add that I really liked how you said, "when one of us steps back, someone else will step forward" (to paraphrase). I've been so exhausted by the news cycle lately that I've run out of steam when it comes to posting new political material here. Sometimes we all feel the need to "step back" but we think that we can't afford to pause and take a breath for fear of losing our grip on things. It helps to think that someone else really will take up the slack, so to speak. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

You always lift me up, Janie. Keep being real, and reminding us to be as well. None of us live a vacuum. We all need each other. Today, might be your turn, and tomorrow will be someone else's. We support one another with love, understanding, clear beliefs, and hope that we will overcome someday, just as Dr King believed. The farm experience was good. Do it again, or do something else to lift your soul. Have a great day.
